NACR Registered Breeders Listing

The NACR is creating and maintaining the genetic database for cockapoos which will establish the cockapoo as a breed (it is now designated as a hybrid cross). The NACR reputation has become well grounded and the NACR name carries with it a level of trust that both breeders and potential owners are seeking. The NACR is your source to find a registered cockapoo breeder, and therefore of getting a true cockapoo. In order for all of these to happen please:
If you are not provided with NACR papers and information you may not be getting a true cockapoo despite breeder's claims (we've been told of breeders claiming to be NACR that are not. At best they misrepresent themselves and their dogs, at worst you may not be getting anything close to a cockapoo). If you have questions whether your breeder is an NACR registered and supporting kennel, check the Breeder Listings (this list is maintained weekly; if your breeder is not there, they are not NACR). All NACR pups, regardless of whether to be a companion pet or a breeding dog should be provided NACR papers (or valid registration information) from your breeder.

The NACR Breeders Listings include only those breeders in good standing, participating in registering with the NACR. Response to the registry is high; breeders realize that the goals of the NACR are vital while owners respect the NACR and its registered breeders as a dedicated force in the development and protection of the cockapoo. NACR breeders participate in the genetic database to prove cockapoo lines and many comply to screen for genetic health problems. The NACR makes no judgment on breeders, therefore anyone considering a purchase should be totally comfortable with that breeder before committing to a puppy. Whether you can visit the breeder or all communication is by phone or email,  you are the one that will live with the pup for its life. Thank you!

NACR Registered Breeders are listed alphabetically by state:

US States A-M   |   US States N-Z   |   Canada  NACR Registered Puppies currently available are listed on the NACR Puppy Page.

Important to note:  only the breeders listed are NACR registered breeders. A cockapoo breeder claiming to be "associated" with the NACR and not listed here are falsely representing themselves with unethical and untrue statements. There is no "associated" or other status other than registered. Likewise a dog as being advertised as "from NACR bloodines" or equivalent is not an NACR registered cockapoo. A cockapoo is either fully registered as an NACR cockapoo or not. Only selecting an NACR Registered Cockapoo from an NACR Registered Breeder guarantees you of getting a true cockapoo.

Disclaimer:
The NACR seeks to encourage proper and ethical breeding standards among its registered breeders - but it is imperative that there is clear understanding of what being an NACR Registered Breeder means, and what the mission and purpose of the NACR is. The NACR is NOT a regulatory body or agency in any form. It is a registry, which is a database of breeding heritage of cockapoos and cockapoo breeding stock. The purpose of this is two fold - first of all, to confirm that a dog being called a cockapoo is just that - a cockapoo and not some other cute fuzzy breed mix. Cockapoos are specific hybrid crosses of Cocker Spaniels and Poodles - nothing else. If, as a person seeking a cockapoo, you choose to select an NACR registered breeder you will be assured that you are indeed purchasing a cockapoo puppy; to be registered the dog's heritage and lineage has been confirmed and recorded as being that of cocker and poodle. Since NACR registered breeders are also encouraged to participate in certain health screenings on their breeding stock you may also have the additional ease of knowing  that the most has been done to help protect your puppy against the chance of several inherited health problems (but this is not a guarantee within the laws of nature).  The NACR also strives to protect against inbreeding and other unethical and improper breeding techniques and insure a wide and healthy gene pool for cockapoos now and in the future.  Secondly, as time moves on and the registry database grows, and breeders participate in successive generation breeding of cockapoos, cockapoos may be recognized as a breed unto their own - if this should come about, the data that is and will be collected by the NACR from its participating breeders will be the main source of proving such breed development. While this is one goal, it is not the primary purpose of the NACR. First and foremost the NACR is striving to encourage proper and healthy genetic selection in cockapoo breeding. The NACR offers a listing of its registered breeders to help you locate and choose a cockapoo breeder. However, it is not in the realm of the NACR to impose breeder standards, penalize or criticize breeders, or intervene in any disputes that might arise between a breeder and client. Having the designation of NACR Registered Breeder certainly carries the message that the breeder is dedicated to the cockapoo, but this is strictly voluntary and not based on other requirements other than the genetic information being collected by the NACR.
