The
North American Cockapoo Annual Calendar has indeed become tradition.
So, we will continue to need good
quality photos for inclusion in next year's (2009) edition. In order to
keep
everyone thinking creatively, be sure to keep taking advantage of those
good theme
shots when they occur (like holidays, seasons, vacations, etc). The
call for photos for the 2009 calendars is open beginning now
(August 2008) through November 15, 2008.
BUT - you need to
think about composing a good photo op. We need photos that are
larger, clear, with good resolution to be able to withstand being
enlarged to
the 8x10 size. You should be shooting
at least 200 pixel
resolution on a digital camera, or scanning at that resolution of
submitting from 35mm shots. Check your camera or scanner settings and
try to optimize for high quality, high resolution and larger print
size. The calendars are professionally printed on 100lb glossy paper,
so the quality
of the original photo is most important. Whether or not we use full
page images or pull together some montages will depend on photo
submissions and quality.
And, the subject should
be a
cockapoo,
being careful about background items, etc. The photos need to be
focusing
on the dog, and ideally the only subject in the photo is the cockapoo.
Exceptional
photos that include people may be considered but we will also require a
legal release statement to use such photos (preferably, they should be
of
the
cockapoo
only, with appropriate backgrounds). We're looking for a good
assortment
of seasonal happenings, vacations, holidays, fun times - and of course
those just plain "AWWWwww...." shots. Take care in composing the
shot - be aware of other things that may be in the photo and take away
from your poo... we've had many adorable dogs in photos that
cannot be used because of other "things" in the photo (like fingers,
feet, ashtrays, trashpails, cars, TVs.....). Just be
sure it spotlights
your cockapoo, andthat no animals are harmed in the taking of the
photo.
Production of both a standard
selection of cockapoos of all ages, as well as one dedicated to only
puppies has been well received and we'll continue to do so as long as
we have enough quality submissions to pull both assortments. Likewise
the availability of regular 12 month wall calendars as well as the
single montage print at-a-glance versions has also been a hit and we'll
continue to produce both versions -
one
with using general cockapoo
photos of poos of all ages, as well as one that is only cockapoo puppies. Each collection will be offered in
a full size 12 page month by month calendar as well as a wall pin up
posted with one montage composed of all the chosen photos on top and a
month at a glance calendar at the bottom.
Photos must be submitted in digital
format, as described above. If you have 35mm prints, office stores or
service bureaus can help you scan photos. If professionally done (ie,
Olan Mills, any photos done by a professional studio even if for a fund
raiser for shelters) photos are submitted you must
include the photographer's name as we need to offer proper credit in
print.
PLEASE NOTE: All photo files
must be RENAMED with your pet's name and your last name; if you are
submiting more than one photo, add a sequential number 1,2 etc after
your last name. EXAMPLE: puffinthompson1.jpg
puffinthompson2.jpg, etc. It is mindboglging for us
on the receiving end of these photos to have to find and look up names
and so forth and then rename photo files as they are mailed to us....
so please, follow the submission guidelines. IF YOU DO NOT LABLE
THE FILES ACCORDINGLY AND INCLUDE REQUESTED INFORMATION WE CANNOT
CONSIDER YOUR PHOTOS FOR INCLUSION. It's just way too much to followup
on hundreds of submissions to get names, pet names, etc. Please don't
miss out because of something like this, and thanks for your
cooperation.
To submit photos use one of the
following email links - it will pre-address an email and complete the
subject line for you. In addition you MUST include the following
information as well as attaching the digital image file to the email:
- Your name, address and email;
- name and age of the cockapoo in the photo;
- breeder name (or specify rescue if rescued)
- a statement of permission (i.e. "The NACR has permission to use
my photo as described in the calendar information on the website"). All
submissions that are used will be archived with this information.
Email submissions are being sent to a dedicated email account to
make it easier to track and review photos - the email address is
nacrcalendar@gmail.com. All submissions MUST be sent to this address,
so as to not have calendar submissions get caught up in regular NACR
office business email.
It's easiest to use these pre-set links - your email client will open
with the address and subject line completed for you. You need only
enter your permission statement and attach the properly named image
file.
To submit a regular cockapoo photo
use: NACR
Cockapoo Calendar 2008 Photo
To submit a cockapoo puppy photo use: NACR
Puppy Calendar 2008 Photo
If for some reason you are not using
the pre-addressed link be sure that the subject line of your
email specifies
"NACR Cockapoo Calendar Photo"
OR "NACR Puppy Calendar
Photo".
We receive many many emails and submissions and without this help to
start sorting things out your photo may not be guaranteed to be in
consideration.
